The jewel in the crown of Carbery's 100 Isles. It encompasses 360 acres of fertile land, it has 25 year round residents. When all the 45 houses are occupied during the summer months the population swells to 150. The island does not have a pub and in all aspects is very safe.

The Reen
One of the seven silver sandy beaches on Heir Island where the Atlantic waters are absolutely pure, the Gulf Stream helps to keep water temperatures reasonably consistent throughout the year.

The Dún is one of the many caves and creeks on the island which can be explored by kayak.

Fastnet Rock

The last outpost of Europe, the last land siting for all westward bound emigrants, conversely it played a major role in communications in the early telegraph days. It is the westerly point of the biannual Fastnet Yacht Race. |
