Welcome to Heir Island Sailing School. Heir Island is situated in Roaringwater Bay amongst Carbery’s 100 Isles. It has safe sailing waters, wonderful sandy beaches, a coastline that is heaven for the adventurous.
The Sailing School is a Training Centre approved by the Irish Sailing Association, the residential accommodation is approved by Failte Ireland. We are a niche school catering for a maximum of 21 mixed ability sailors at any one time.
Super Discounts for 2013 season!
Due to the current economic climate, we have discounted our prices very considerably from those prevailing in 2008, 40% year round and 25% in August.
In 2012 we had a waiting list in July so we encourage our customers to book early.
Irish Sailing Association - ISA Instructor courses
Heir Island Sailing School has organized in 2011 a dinghy Instructor pre-assessment and a dinghy instructor course with a very high graduation rate.

Mission Statement To provide sailing instruction and certification to Irish Sailing Association standards in a safe and friendly environment, in keeping with the skill and talents of the individual. Such instruction will be provided in an environment where teamwork is a top priority, and where the instruction is conducted in a cultural backdrop of Celtic history, art adventure, and traditional Irish cuisine.
Our director of sailing Hugues Traonmilin is a Senior Instructor and a Yachtmaster Instructor and provides also Personalised Private Coaching on privately owned sailing yachts. |

We are totally flexible in terms of staffing and are happy to accommodate teachers, counsellors from your own school/organisation/club or company. If you wish, we will also be happy to customise a programme to suit your own particular needs. For those of you who may wish to use sailing as a backdrop to an island visit may we suggest that you use the Failte Ireland approved accommodation at Roaringwater Lodge as a base for the following suggested activities:
